Rhinoplasty Surgery – What to Expect

  • About the Surgery – Rhinoplasty can be used to correct a variety of common cosmetic complaints. It is also a reconstructive surgery alternative for patients with nasal deformities or significant breathing problems, including patients with deviated septums and patients born with a cleft lip and palate
  • Surgical Setting – outpatient setting
  • Anesthesia – a general anesthetic is typically used
  • Post Surgery – following the nose surgery operation a nasal splint (plastic cover) is placed on the nose and left on for one week. Packing is usually not used. Pain is mild pain but swelling and bruising can be significant and last for up to 2 weeks. Nose blowing is prohibited for 2 weeks and stuffiness persists during that time. Light exercise is permitted at 2 weeks, but more serious exercise has to wait for 4 to 6 weeks. Final results are evaluated 6 months from the time of surgery
