Breast Lift Performed by Boston Cosmetic Surgeon Dr. Bartlett

Breast lifts, or mastopexy procedures, are usually performed to reverse the inevitable sagging that comes with age and child bearing; however, younger patients also present with premature sagging (also called “ptosis”). Patients considering a breast lift in Boston choose the office of acclaimed board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Bartlett.

Dr. Bartlett has been named one of “Boston’s Most Trusted Doctors” by Boston magazine and is a Top Doctor on RealSelf. He has over two decades’ experience in the medical field helping patients achieve their goals.

What Is a Breast Lift?

Breast lift surgery is designed to reposition the breast and elevate the nipple to a more youthful position on the chest – improving tone and firmness. Breast lifts can also reshape abnormally long or pointy breasts and adjust the size of extremely large nipples and areolas.

There are a number of options to lift breasts, and Dr. Bartlett is experienced in all techniques. Often, breast lift surgery is combined with breast augmentation – sometimes to restore volume lost with pregnancy, and sometimes to achieve a larger size or obtain a better longer-lasting result.

This combination breast procedure is called a breast lift with implants, or sometimes a breast augmentation with lift. It can save patients time and money while creating both volume and perkiness.

However, a breast lift without implants can also be the right procedure depending on the individual. Dr. Bartlett’s extensive experience with all breast procedures allows him to fully evaluate your case and offer all options that might be right for you.

Breast Lift Surgery – What to Expect

  • Surgical Setting – The breast lift is performed in the office or as an outpatient procedure at a Boston area hospital.
  • Anesthesia – Some breast lift procedures can be performed under a local anesthetic, but most procedures will require intravenous sedation or general anesthesia.
  • Surgical Incisions – Minor breast lifts (usually performed in conjunction with breast augmentation) require incisions limited to the area around the nipple. More significant lifts require additional incisions under the breast.

The Mastopexy Healing Process

Usually, patients take 1 week off from work at the start of their breast lift recovery, but they feel well within a few days. Discomfort is mild.

Light exercise is permitted in 2 weeks; heavy exercise has to wait for 6 weeks. Swelling and bruising abate within 2 weeks, but final breast lift results can be seen 3 to 6 months after surgery. Patients can enjoy results that look natural and youthful.

How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost?

Determining the price of your mastopexy surgery will require knowing the exact details of your case. Because of this, it is best discussed during a consultation. The surgical technique that is best for your case, the right anesthesia for you, and the time it takes to perform the procedure all impact breast lift cost.
