Setting the Ears Back Against the Head with Ear Surgery – Boston Otoplasty

Published on September 16, 2013

Many children, both male and female, are born with ears that protrude rather far from the side of their head. Ears that stick out too far from the side of the head can be a source of teasing among children causing self esteem setbacks. Otoplasty or ear surgery, is a cosmetic procedure designed to set the ears back farther on the side of the head.

Dr. Bartlett has extensive experience performing ear surgery on both children and adults. Children may be eligible for the procedure as early as 5 years old or as soon as the child has stopped developing. Children who undergo the procedure can be spared years of teasing. Adults who have learned to live with their protruding ears are given an opportunity to live life without worrying about their hair covering their ears or wearing garments to cover their ears.

Otoplasty, or ear surgery is one of the most rewarding procedures Dr. Bartlett performs. He thoroughly enjoys improving his patients quality of life with procedures like otoplasty. We invite you to contact our office to learn more about ear surgery and how it can improve your appearance.
