Mastopexy – Breast Surgery Procedure Boston

Published on September 11, 2015
Mastopexy

Mastopexies have surged in popularity since the year 2000. The mastopexy, or breast lift, is a cosmetic procedure that reduces and lifts the breast. Typically, this is a procedure that is meant to address the excessive sagging and breast ptosis that have come about as a result of aging, heredity or pregnancy.

A mastopexy focuses on the issues of the nipple-areola-complex. One of the most significant characteristics that concerns patients is breast ptosis. Breast ptosis is measured on a scale of I to IV, or mild to severe. The scale measures the location of the nipple relative to the inframammary fold and takes into account the orientation of the nipple.

Consult with an experienced plastic surgeon like Dr. Richard Bartlett if you are concerned about breast ptosis and would like to know more about mastopexy surgery.
